T. Taylor Warren NMPA Picture of the Year Award
This annual award is named after Thomas Taylor Warren, affectionately known as “T.” to his friends, who started his automobile racing photography career in the 1940s. NASCAR officials declared Lee Petty the winner of the inaugural Daytona 500 after viewing Warren’s photo of the finish. One of the few people to have witnessed every Daytona 500 before his death in 2008, Warren was perhaps the best known photographer on the NASCAR circuit. He was inducted into the NMPA Hall of Fame in 2009.
